[00:00:08.986] Dental implant is an artificial root [00:00:10.890] that is put down into the bone or the missing area where a tooth was. [00:00:22.600] We then place a button, which is something that comes out of the artificial root, [00:00:27.514] and then we put a crown on top of that [00:00:29.690] or a bridge to secure the different types of restorations, [00:00:33.130] be it a crown, be it a partial, be it a denture. [00:00:36.620] Really, anyone is a great candidate above the age of 18 years old. [00:00:40.786] We don't like to place them on anybody that's a growing adult [00:00:43.785] being in their teenage years, anything usually 18, 19, 20, [00:00:47.850] anybody older than that is a good candidate for a dental implant. [00:00:51.614] We start with the process of evaluating the area of a missing tooth, [00:00:55.297] because usually people come in either with a missing tooth that's been extracted [00:00:59.514] or a tooth that needs to be extracted. [00:01:01.720] We want to make sure we have width and we have depth of bone [00:01:04.886] for us to place it on an implant. [00:01:06.529] If all of that is there, then we proceed with a digital X ray scan [00:01:10.557] so we can see the slices of the jawbone, [00:01:12.529] so we exactly know where the implant should go. [00:01:15.557] Then I make a 3D surgical guide so that I can place it accurately in the mouth. [00:01:19.643] Once we start the surgery procedure because I have done a surgical guide [00:01:23.230] and I know exactly where I'm going, it only takes me about a half hour at most [00:01:27.058] to place a dental implant. [00:01:28.330] Recovery is pretty immediate. [00:01:29.771] It's easier to put something in than take something out. [00:01:32.621] There's nerve endings where the tissue is, the tissue is more of the soreness [00:01:36.672] than it is the dental implant. [00:01:38.471] We suture it up, closed, and we see them in a ten-day post-op.
