Porcelain Veneers

Do you feel self-conscious when you smile? Do you cover your mouth with your hand when you're speaking?

You can transform your smile at our Chattanooga, TN, practice with stunning porcelain veneers designed by Dr. Andrew R. Lunn.

Veneers are one of the most natural-looking ways to conceal dental flaws. Learn more about the benefits of dental veneers...

Dental Veneers Are a Cosmetic Dentistry Favorite

Whether you want to conceal chips, cracks, stains, or even minor misalignment, dental veneers can be an excellent cosmetic fix. These thin ceramic shells fit snugly over the front surfaces of the teeth to mask a variety of common flaws. They can be precisely shaped and color-matched to the surrounding teeth for natural-looking results.

So, What Is a Veneer?

A dental veneer is a thin layer of medical-grade porcelain that is bonded to the front surface of a tooth. The custom-made shells immediately transform flawed teeth into a more symmetrical and attractive smile. By using porcelain veneers, Dr. Andrew Lunn can alter the color, size, shape, and texture of each tooth to create the smile you've always wanted.
Dr. Lunn has decades of experience. His dedication to detail along with his understanding of the artistic side of dentistry allows him to craft veneers that hide imperfections while complimenting your natural features.

One of the best dentists and the best staff. We actually look forward to seeing everyone there and I don't really like going to the dentist. Very particular about the care they provide and are very concerned about their patients. And you've got to meet Winston!

Feeling Insecure About Your Teeth?

Porcelain veneers can mask several common dental concerns, improving the appearance of teeth that are:

Are You a Good Candidate?

A comprehensive dental examination conducted by Dr. Lunn can determine whether porcelain veneers are the appropriate treatment for you. In order to have porcelain veneers applied, patients should:

Have Good Oral Health

Good candidates are committed to proper oral care and attending regular check-ups. If you have tooth decay, gum disease, or other oral health issues, these problems must be addressed first. Our dentist will also check to see if you have sufficient tooth enamel to support the veneer shells.

Not Grind Their Teeth

If you grind or clench your teeth, you may not be a good candidate for veneers. While dental porcelain is quite strong, the forces exerted by bruxism can cause veneers to break or come off entirely. In many cases, we can treat the underlying causes of bruxism, such as temporomandibular joint disorder (TMJ), allowing you to receive veneers.

Be Committed to Maintenance

While veneers generally last for about 10 years, they will eventually need to be replaced. Since the treatment involves permanent changes to your enamel, you must be committed to periodic maintenance. If you are hesitant to undergo a permanent procedure you may be better suited for a temporary alternative, like dental bonding.

Will People Know I Have Veneers?

Veneers have come a long way from the bulky, unnatural-looking restorations of years past. Advancements in technology have made dental veneers more lifelike and versatile than ever before. The new types of porcelain used to make dental veneers have made them stronger and allow them to reflect light much like natural teeth. Today's porcelain veneers are nearly indistinguishable from your natural teeth.

What's more, the natural shade selection that Dr. Lunn uses makes the transition from your veneers to your natural teeth appear seamless.

Check Out the Results Yourself!

Pictured below is a real patient of our Chattanooga practice who came to us for help with his teeth. He was mainly concerned about the yellow discoloration distracting from his smile. In addition to placing several porcelain veneers, our dentist performed a gingival gum lift to lengthen the crowns of the upper front teeth.

Looking for a Dramatic Transformation?

Consider a Comprehensive Smile Makeover

While porcelain veneers provide stunning enhancement on their own, they can also be part of a smile makeover for a more dramatic transformation. A smile makeover combines two or more forms of cosmetic dentistry into a custom treatment plan. We can incorporate veneers, crowns, teeth whitening, gum contouring, and more into a makeover to address different flaws at the same time.  Our dentist will examine your teeth during a one-on-one consultation and recommend the procedures best suited for your needs.

Our practice goes the extra mile to ensure the most natural-looking custom cosmetic dentistry. How? By working closely with select dental labs to hand-craft stunning restorations and by using the latest technology to maximize precision.  The results consistently exceed our patient's expectations.

Preparation

Each tooth will be prepared by removing a small portion of the enamel from the tooth surface. Next, a precise impression of your teeth will be taken.

Temporary Veneers

During this first visit, a temporary veneer will be placed over each prepared tooth to protect it until your permanent veneers are crafted.

Veneer Fabrication

Once all the essential information is collected, Dr. Lunn sends the details to the dental laboratory to create veneers to his exact specifications. Our office only works with state-of-the-art dental labs that can meet the exacting standards established by Dr. Lunn.

Try-On

A follow-up visit at our Chattanooga, TN, practice is scheduled after the laboratory returns your porcelain veneers and they have been inspected by Dr. Lunn. During this visit, your temporary veneers will be removed. At this point, Dr. Lunn will compare your new veneers with your teeth to ensure they meet your expectations.

How Do I Care for Veneers?

You take care of veneers just like you take care of your natural teeth. Keep in mind, veneers can be damaged by:

  • Crunching on ice
  • Biting your fingernails
  • Chewing on pens or other hard objects
  • Tearing open packages with your teeth

If you have any questions about maintenance, please send a message to our Chattanooga practice online. A member of our team will get back to you as soon as possible.

Paying for Your Veneers

Porcelain veneers are a highly custom procedure, so it's impossible to determine the cost without first examining your smile. After your consultation we will have a better idea of the complexity of your treatment and can give you a personalized estimate. Unfortunately, like most forms of cosmetic dentistry, veneers are not typically covered by insurance. However, our Chattanooga practice is happy to accept financing through CareCredit® to help make your treatment more affordable. If you are interested in flexible financing, please ask a member of our friendly team, and we can assist you with the process.

Are There Other Options?

Some patients choose dental bonding (sometimes called composite veneers) instead of veneers to treat aesthetic concerns. This option involves applying tooth-colored resin to your teeth in order to cover imperfections. It is less costly, but in some cases this solution may not be able to provide the results you want. If neither of these options can conceal the imperfections you wish to address, a crown may provide a solution.

Dr. Lunn provides each of these cosmetic options and can help decide which is best for you.
