Saving Money By Seeing the Dentist By docandy15 on April 16, 2012

Would you like to know how to have a healthy smile without breaking the bank?  The first way is to have at least two trips to the dentist every year for your professional hygiene appointment and dental check-up.  Many of my patients start their year off by making a resolution to improve their smile and overall oral health.  Most people know the basics of how to have a healthy smile, however there are a few more ideas and tips that I can provide to make your next dental visit a snap.

The second way is for my patients to keep their equipment fresh. What do I mean by this?  Always buy a soft bristle toothbrush and change to a new toothbrush every three months.  The bristles tend to wear out after a while and you need to have these bristles to remove the dental plaque that builds up on your teeth.  If you have an illness then you can use the dishwasher to clean you toothbrush.  Always allow the toothbrush to air dry so that bacteria can not grow on the bristles.

The third way is to keep your gums in great condition.  The use of toothpicks, dental floss, or GUM softpicks (GUM® Official Site | gumbrand.com) are a great way to keep your gums in great shape.  The dental gums are like a sore muscle.  The more you take time to massage and stimulate them daily the better and more healthier they become.  The gums are the primary way infection enters our blood stream on a daily basis.

Follow all of these tips and you will be on your way to having a beautiful and healthy smile in no time.  For more information you can contact us today for your new patient evaluation at 423.553.8858.  Dr. Andrew Lunn performs high quality Cosmetic, Implant, Sedation and General Dentistry at 1606 Gunbarrel Road in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
